Understanding Middle Insomnia Causes

in Misc

Most people think that the sign of insomnia is that you have a hard time falling asleep at night.  A lot of people have no problem falling asleep but they are unable to stay asleep through the night.  This miserable condition is called middle insomnia.

Getting some sleep early in the night is better than getting no sleep at all.  At least when you have middle insomnia you can rely on getting a few hours of sleep without stress each night.  That doesn’t help when you can’t remember the last time you slept more than a few hours.

The good news is that there may be some things that you can do improve your sleep if you suffer from middle insomnia.  The first think you need to do is carefully examine your surroundings.  It may be that there is something in your environment causing you to wake up at night.

It could be that noises are the cause of you waking up in the middle of the night.  Drowning out noises that wake you up is the best idea – unless, of course, the noises are coming from your children.  A white noise machine does this quite well.  CD’s are another way that you can get white noise.  While my favorite is rain, there are many alternatives to choose from.

Excessive light can be another cause of waking up at night.  Most people underestimate how much impact light has on their sleep.  Getting black out shades can solve your problem.  Another option is to get an eye pillow.  Eye covers are very inexpensive and ones today are surprisingly comfortable.

A room that is too warm or too cold can also cause you to wake up at night.      Everyone is different, but most people sleep best at 68 degrees.  Fixing your environmental issues can mean that you no longer need to look for ways to fall asleep.
