The CW which developed out of the past WB network is notorious for targeting a younger audience with its young casts and high school based shows. They continue to create new teen shows and some of their older shows that have been on for many years have been out of high school for quite sometime now!
The oldest show on the network is Smallville which has been on the air for 9 seasons and will soon be entering its 10th season. The show chronicles the life of Clark Kent as he learns to accept who he has and tries to live his destiny of becoming Superman. While the show originally started with him in high school he is now working at the Daily Planet alongside Lois Lane. Each season brings a new nemesis for him and brings action packed adventure revolving around Kryptonite, his one weakness.
Also on the CW is One Tree Hill, which has some of the loyalist fans. While every year since its beginning has been rumored to be its last the show will be beginning its 8th season in the fall. Two of the reasons people continue to watch One Tree Hill is because of the off the wall storylines and because of the One Tree Hill soundtrack. From the very beginning when these characters went through the struggles of high school they showcased some great music, some more popular music and other music from lesser known artists and bands. The characters are now in the middle of their careers which include fashion designer, NBA player and singer/songwriter. Wouldn’t it be nice if we all could be a character in a TV show?
The most successful show of last year on the CW was Vampire Diaries. It is the story of a girl growing up in Mystic Falls that falls in love with a vampire. The premise of the show is clearly trying to capitalize from the Twilight crowd and why not? People keep tuning in each week to watch what will happen next. At the end of the season they added werewolves and it appears they will delve deeper into this topic in the upcoming season.
