Gravity does not allow anyone to stay suspended in the air as long as they want or need but you can create the impression that you are disobeying gravity by creating an illusion of flight, the way Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant do. If you are a sportsperson or an aspiring athlete, you know the importance of being able to out jump your opponents to make shots, spike the ball. Grab a rebounding shot, block scoring attempts and best of all, dunk in a basketball game. None of these is possible unless you are a very good jumper. Jumpers like professional basketball players are not born, they are made through physical exercises that train their leg muscles and other organs involved in jumping.
In order for you to increase your vertical jump ability, you have to get into a vertical training where you can specialize in making your leg muscles fit to grant you high jumping ability. First, you will need to understand your body and know what mechanisms do what. Once you have this information, you will be in a better position to do the right exercises at the right intensity to get the best possible results. Contrary to common belief, genetics actually have very little to do with the muscles twitching and being strong and explosive enough to propel the body high above the ground.
Plyometric exercises are the best exercises you can use to be a better and higher jumper. However, since plyometric workouts come in different types, it is imperative that you choose the right exercises that will suit your needs and objectives. To do this right, it is best you get yourself a good jump program that will guide you step by step on what you need to do, the results you should expect and what is good for your body and jumping ability. The best program in my opinion is the jump manual, a professionally researched and simply written jump program.
