A Stylish and Healthy Lamp Shade

in Misc

Putting a lampshade to a light bulb is a great way in reducing its glare. Especially for people who have the tendency of having a migraine headache once exposed to huge amount of light. However, the disadvantage of this is that the light is being suppressed. That’s why it is not ideal to be used as a source of light especially if you are reading a book. This may strain your eyes that may lead to eye deficiency. With this situation in mind, manufacturers did a thorough study about this and came up with a solution to this problem.

Instead of using traditional lamp shades, if you’re a bookworm, a person who has the tendency of having headaches because of light, or both, you may just want to use a glass lamp shade. It reduces the glare of a light bulb and at the same time gives decent amount of light required for reading. Let me explain further:

Many lamp shades use cloth as shades. The problem with this is that it only absorbs the light coming from the light bulb and spreads it instead of allowing it to pass through. Because of this, a light bulb becomes a mere decoration and loses its real purpose – to light up a dark room. On the other hand, if you’re going to use a surface that lets a huge amount of light pass through, then there’s no reason to put a shade on the light bulb. Glass is a material that lets decent amount of light pass through and at the same time reducing the glare of light. This makes glass a very effective material to be used as a shade but keep in mind that these factors may vary according to the thickness of the glass to be used.
